                    CORTES ISLAND CELEBRATING SENIORS FILM PROGRAM 

This documentary filmmaking program will bring youth, adults, and seniors together to produce media that celebrates the rich history of Cortes Island and its senior residents. Participants will work in small groups to produce short films that explore the fascinating stories of five seniors in our community.

In this program you will:

• Learn how to plan, shoot, and edit a short documentary film
• Work creatively with a small group of peers
• Help tell the stories of elders in your community
• Have a ridiculous amount of fun!


We are looking for 15 participants ages 13 and up to participate in this exciting project.
Adults are welcome to participate too!

The final films will be featured on our website and YouTube channel, on cortesmuseum.com, and screened publicly on Cortes Island as part of the Reel Youth Film Festival.

                                                APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 20th

All experience levels are welcome.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE:


WHERE:  Manson's Hall, Pioneer Room                                                                                      

WHO:    Open to anyone ages 13 and up. No experience necessary!
             NOTE: If you're in high school, we can give you 32 volunteer hours for your participation.


PROGRAM FEE: $20 (payable on arrival). Bursaries available upon request.

FILM FESTIVAL SCREENING:  Thursday, July 7th from 7-9pm at Manson's Hall
