In this partnership with Kitikmeot Heritage Society / Pitquhikhainik Ilihainiq, youth (ages 15-29) in Cambridge Bay, Kugluktuk, Ulukhaktok, and Gjoa Haven will work with Reel Youth facilitators to plan, shoot, edit, and distribute an original music video. No film making experience is necessary!

In this FREE program, you will:

          • Get to use a song from Beatrice Deer, Terry Uyarak, or Aasiva
          • Learn how to plan, shoot, and edit a short film
          • Receive a $250 honourarium
          • Receive a FREE software license for Adobe Premiere Rush
          • Work creatively with a small group of peers
          • Have fun!

Dates: Oct 4, 6, 8, 12, 13, 15 from 5-6:30 MDT each day

You will need access to a computer, laptop, or tablet(and if you don't have one, we can help!). It must be able to run Zoom (details) and Adobe Premiere Rush (provided by us for free - details).

Reel Youth musician-filmmaker-facilitators will help build community and technical filmmaking skills to create videos that will be featured in an online film festival and distributed through Reel Youth's website and social media channels.

In our work we strive to embody what we hope to see in the world—a just humanity and community in which people are free to be themselves fully and without fear. A community where no one is exiled or silenced because of gender, gender expression, race, color, ethnic or national origin, religion, sexual/affectional orientation, age, class, physical character or disability. We believe in the power of storytelling to make connections across difference.
