Reel Youth partnered with K5T in Terrace to run a hands-on filmmaking program that brought young people and local Elders together to share stories, skills, and perspectives. Over a week, youth participants learned every stage of film production — from narrative development and interviewing to camera work and editing — and collaborated with Elders to create three short documentary films. The resulting films celebrate intergenerational connection, lived experience, and community resilience while giving young creators practical training and confidence in media arts. Explore the three films below and see how storytelling built relationships across generations in Northwest British Columbia.
In our work we strive to embody what we hope to see in the world—a just humanity and community in which people are free to be themselves fully and without fear. A community where no one is exiled or silenced because of gender, gender expression, race, color, ethnic or national origin, religion, sexual/affectional orientation, age, class, physical character or disability. We believe in the power of storytelling to make connections across difference.
