In 2016, Reel Youth, Nia Centre for the Arts, and Ella Cooper came together to offer a unique, Afro-centric film and video camp for young Black women based in the Greater Toronto Area. The program was dedicated to supporting the development of young Black filmmakers and video artists, and focused on providing racialized women ages 14 - 29 with training in direction, cinematography, and editing as an introduction to short film creation.
Participants created these powerful short video self-portraits that celebrate their individual life stories and the issues most important to them.
