REEL YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL
The Reel Youth Film Festival empowers young artists to express their creativity, entertain audiences, and share their visions for a more just and sustainable world. The festival is a model for community engagement, a celebration of youth culture, and a showcase for the richness and diversity of a new generation of filmmakers.
The festival screens short films made by young people under 20, and tours in partnership with youth media organizations, high schools, community groups and other established film festivals. The festival tour kicks off at the Vancouver International Film Festival and goes on to tour in partnership with screening partners across Canada and around the world.

The Reel Youth Film Festival pulls together an insightful, diverse, compelling and humorous collection of short films from across the globe – all made by youth. Chosen by a youth jury from over 1,300 submissions and 20 countries around the world, this collection will show you the world through the eyes of an incredibly gifted emerging group of filmmakers. Whether it’s a zombie musical, an ode to aging from Taiwan, a Russian animation on how-to-fit-in, or an over-zealous house painter drama from Denmark, laughing and learning are guaranteed at the Reel Youth Film Festival.
The proceeds from each screening acts as a fundraiser for local screening partners and the audience votes to decide the overall festival winners. Each screening showcases up to twenty five percent local films so that emerging filmmakers can be recognized in their community.
The collection has been rated PG by Consumer Protection BC.
