We've gathered an amazing team of adults to help you make impactful films:
Mark Achbar is one of Canada's leading documentary filmmakers. His film, 'The Corporation', is a groundbreaking movie about the economic and environmental impact of corporations. It has currently received 26 international awards, was awarded the winner of the 2004 Sundance Audience Award and Best Documentary at the 2005 Genie Awards, and is the highest grossing documentary in Canadian history.
Lisa Jackson is an Anishnaabe director and writer whose recent film, Savage, a residential school musical, won a 2011 Genie for Best Live Action Short Drama.
Lisa describes her mentor role as, "validating people's 'take' and enabling them, technically and creatively, to put that into film as authentically as possible."
Velcrow Ripper is a lot like his movies -- friendly, hopeful, full of electrifying ideas. Ripper is an award-winning filmmaker with dozens of films and videos under his belt including Bones of the Forest, Scared Sacred and Fierce Light. Scared Sacred was named one of Canada's Top 10 movies of 2004 and won a 2005 Genie for best feature documentary. He is currently working on Evolve Love.
Other amazing mentors include: Sean Devlin, Tiffany Moses, Khari McLelland, Claudia
Medina, Rupinder Singh Sidhu, Erica Køhn, Hauke Boëttcher, Mark Vonesch, Andrea Curtis, Munisha Tumato, Sara Kendall, Marianna Pinchot, Elisa Chee, and Zoë Miles.
Participants will bring the films created at the camp back to their community for a screening.
They will also be submitted to Reel Youth's touring film festival, showcased on our website and submitted to various other film festivals and television stations.
