AGE IS MORE FILM PROGRAM: VETERAN'S SPOTLIGHT EDITION
Chateau Renoir, Calgary, AB
The Veteran’s Spotlight edition of The Revera and Reel Youth Age Is More Film Project saw young filmmakers paired with veterans and other seniors who had lived through the second world war. Over the course of two weekends, the youth and older participants collaborated to create videos of the seniors’ first-hand accounts of the war and how it impacted their lives. The program brought together youth and older adults in a creative collaboration to celebrate older Canadians through story-telling and film, with the added benefit of fostering new inter-generational relationships.
Ageism is Canada's most widely tolerated form of social discrimination, and the Age Is More Film Program was designed to shed light on ageism, challenge the assumptions of aging and recognize the valuable contributions of older adults to society.
